We don’t have Nikes, but we do have shoes, Photo by Christyl RIvers

Why not throw your Nike shoes on the fire?

Why not burn it all down, see what will transpire?

We live in an age of water, fire and swamp goo

Join flame-flooding madness — rather than defend a shoe.

Still, some of us have our reasons. Reason itself being one.

We understand patriots care for what’s come undone.

If you don’t stand for justice, but will defend rants of a troll

When the life of a citizen is worth less than your soul,

When sparks of a dream dim, like dying flecks of charcoal,

When each day displays hate that’s spread out of control,

Loving an ideal is one thing, so love of country is grand,

But loving your neighbor is the greatest law of any land

Your deepest sorrows reflect what a devoted heart can feel

What we stand for is most evident when we link arms and kneel
