To Envy Them

A poem for today

in these darkest of days
impulsive populations
give in to the least
educated so that they
may IG their Disney
week, daring someone
to like them
to idolize them
to envy them
their #winning
their #lookatme
their #masklessandproud
a cobra waiting
(but first a selfie,
#bestlife)
to strike anyone
who comments
on their seemingly
beautiful noncompliance
their risk to look rich
their risk to celebrate
#freedom
at the expense of their
children’s future
and everyone else’s.
