We were all just trying to hide inside
The world is a dangerous place
Death at the door — with plague has tried —
To offer up his cold embrace

We were all just trying to hide inside
When we heard our cities catching fire
Weapons of hate and fear supplied
Gasoline to whip flames higher

We were all just trying to walk outside
When violent criminals filled our streets
They looted our breath, attacked our side
Behind police shields rather than sheets
