With hope, minutely

fire burning in a forest

I watch
tinder hearts tear
feeble fictions suffocate
flora and fauna fired ferociously.

I grow
this seedling with hope, minutely
rewilding in my dreamscapes
the rehabilitation of tenderness.

I’m captive
to a century or more of hard work
a promise to repair and ripen joy
with servant hands and forested minds.
