Shed your fur but the wolf still rages beneath.
New friends replace old, but who’s going to replace you?
The spider bite stings the same.

You gave me that rusted key because it’s as worn as your heart,
so easy to turn.

Confusion spills all the way down to your shadow,
where no shade or sunlight can hide.
You’ve kissed everyone else goodbye never thinking you’d have to leave as well.

The venom swimming through your veins is the offering you’ve set aside.
It’s meant for others, never to mix with your tainted blood.

The realization comes, you cannot escape your sad eyes.
You hate what you see when it’s your reflection,
a desperate growl and show of teeth with no one to scare.

The forest is dense, trees provide cover.
You’re not unique, the damage is done, the moon rises and covers us all.
