World Upside Down

Got out of bed the other day
to find I’m standing on the ceiling,
the day was night ’n’ night was day,
my empty cup was all filled up
but spilled before I drank it,
my smile’s a frown,
the worst was true,
the world turned upside down,
Trump was in the White House
the Klan were all in town,
Children and sheep living in fear,
Roy Moore dressed as Santa,
Putin’s an elf, Kim’s a clown,
Trump has taxed the homeless,
for being poor and hungry
taking up valuable real estate
to house the rich, a second home
a swimming pool, place to golf
an island haven hiding tax,
I tried to say this is not the way
but words just turned to babble,
turned on a show to get to know
why the world was in a scrabble
but every channel was Fox News
the reporters were a rabble,
truth was false and fake
facts they made of scandal,
I asked myself is this a dream,
am I hallucinating?
the door burst in
Klansmen dressed like Feds,
I’m clapped in chains
for thinking wrong
and voicing my opinions,
protesting, I was pinioned,
scream, they said, we don’t care
we’re white, we’re right
we make the law
I had to agree
though that was rare
I’m in a fucking nightmare.
