Why Resonance?
In physics, resonance is described as the reinforcement or prolongation of sound by reflection from a surface or by the synchronous vibration of a neighbouring object.
In the words of philosopher Alan Watts — what is life without memory, resonance, echo?
“You see, without resonance nothing happens. If there are no echoes, you can’t hear anything …
Supposing we get a room in which we blanket all the walls, and blanket the floor, soundproof it in every possible direction, you can hardly hear anyone talk, because voice requires resonance. And that’s why we are all so fascinated with recording things, taking photographs, writing them down, and above all, remembering. It’s a form of resonance. Nothing exists in a vacuum. We need each other to resonate ideas, learnings and teachings.
While change starts at an individual level, we also need each other. Human beings thrive on connection. We are on earth to love and co-create.
Like Watts, we also subscribe to the view that life is simultaneous attachment and detachment, involution and evolution. We believe that life is the art of balancing duality between attachment and living in the present (aka the eternal now).
