Who Are You Writing For?
Humans I hope!
If you have been following Medium’s updates, you would have noticed the recent buzz about quality and AI spam. This suggests a trend of increasing push back against such said content.
Rightly so.
Medium, at its core, is a social network. Or at least that is what my opinion is. If you are like me, deriving satisfaction as writers means having quality readership.
No, I do not need 100 people who just open the story, glance at a 30 seconds stopwatch while holding on the click button. And of course leaving the signature comment.
Thanks. / Interesting read. / Wow.
Rather, give me a person who really understands what I am trying to express. My fears, challenges or perhaps hopes if life is kind to me. I am here to seek a connection. To know that I am not alone despite the vast distance separating us.
Medium has comforted me during my darkest times. I connected with so many kind, sensitive souls that were nowhere to be found in reality. What more could I ask for?
Now zoom out and lets put on a new lens.
