“It looked like hail on the ground — like snow — there were so many shrouds”

On December 3, 1984, the inhabitants of Bhopal fell victim to one of the world’s worst industrial catastrophe. More than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate gas leaked from a Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, India. The toxic gas immediately killed at least 3,800 people and caused significant morbidity and premature death for thousands more. The victims survived the horrors of poisonous gas only to face injustice.
