After Dozens of Mouth Lacerations, Company Recalls Food Processor
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that several food processors are being recalled over a possible laceration hazard.
According to the official announcement, the food processor’s riveted blades may end up cracking over time. As a result, small metal pieces of the blade will break off while in use. If that occurs, the bits of metal will break into the processed food. Since this may expose consumers to possible laceration risks, the products are being recalled.
Officials announced that about 8 million of these products have been impacted by the recall. Conair, the company behind the distribution of the recalled products, has announced that at least 69 incidents involving the food processors were reported. At least 30 of these incidents resulted in mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.
Consumers with the recalled products are being urged to stop using the food processor’s riveted blades. Contact Cuisinart for more details on this recall and how you should proceed to have a free replacement blade sent your way.
