Our Thoughts on Medium Best Practices

Where you can go with Medium where other social media platforms can’t follow

Medium-styled articles is where Results.io does one of two things. First, we will try to explain how we do business and the methods and tactics behind our madness. Second, and most important, Medium is where we can tell our clients’ stories, provide visual images, and fully explain directions while not being limited by character counts or other constraints.

Why Publish on Medium

If you take anything away from reading this, Medium is not a place in which to sell something, per say. In fact, Medium’s rules don’t allow conventional advertisements to be posted on the site. While our goal is to drive the growth of a community by making people aware of a client’s project we don’t see this as ‘selling.’ We are telling a client’s story and making potential consumers aware of ideas, events, or anything else that would drive someone to want to buy into a project. In addition, we are writing to educate clients and their communities about the latest Web3 trends, new technologies, or other pertinent information.

Using Medium for the Benefit of Web3 Projects and Games
Medium should be viewed as a way to create exposure and ‘sell’ a client’s brand, not its product. To do this, Results.io will write articles to fit a client’s needs in the Web3 space. Articles can be written to explain the project. Articles can be written to explain how to play a game. Articles can be written to discuss the tokenomics of a game. They can be written to disclose a partnership, announcement of a contest, or notify a community of an AMA or a podcast. All of this is done to attain these goals:

  • Build brand awareness
  • Increase visibility
  • Drive traffic to your project
  • Create a community

Again, we aren’t doing this to sell anything. We are simply aiming to tell your story and the story behind your project in a way that will drive audiences to ask for more.

Every Web3 project should create a series of Medium posts to tell their story, spaced out over a period of time to best capture the audience’s attention. Below is a general list, but of course, not set in stone:

  1. Start with an introduction of the project — Define it, introduce the leadership team, and tell everyone what’s the scope of the project.
  2. Next should be a detailed explanation of the “why’ of the project and how you the developer got to that point
  3. Discuss the Tokenomics of your project
  4. Inform the community of NFT drops, platform updates, or other opportunities
  5. Subsequent articles announcing major investments and/ or partnerships
  6. Industry overviews and technology discussions related to the project
  7. Revealing planned campaigns, such as contests, tournaments, or giveaways.

Again, the purpose of medium is to tell your story. There’s a timeline of how that happens. And not every project is the same and not every project will need 6–12 articles to maximize their outreach.

How to Publish on Medium

These are the technical steps to publish an article on Medium:

  1. Add your story
Once you are logged in, click on your profile picture from the top right-hand corner and choose “Write Story.” Start writing. But keep the following in mind:
  • Have a clear headline.
  • Don’t mislead readers.
  • No plagiarism
  • Copy edit. Ensure your post is error-free. Spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistakes make you and your organization look unprofessional and sloppy.

Some writers may find it easier to compose their document on another software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs and cut and paste into Medium. It’s also easier to edit, save and catalog articles on those platforms. But these are personal preferences.

2. Add Photos

Click on the “+” button on the left side of the page and then click the “Camera” button to upload a pre-saved image. Use images of clients, usually specific to the subject matter of the article.

3. Embed Third-Party Media and Hyperlinks

Paste the URL of the content you want to embed, then press “Enter.”

4. Add the Boilerplate information

Don’t forget to remind people who you are, what you are doing, and always provide your community links so your audience can always find you.

5. Schedule your post

If you are so inclined, you can schedule the post to be released to coincide with another event, such as an AMA or the opening of a contest.

6. Publish

When you are ready, click “publish” and reveal your thoughts to the world.
