- Facebook Messenger is becoming more marketplace-y. Instagram has just added in-app payments feature. Both mean that Facebook is more serious about making money as a marketplace than ever before.

- on the other hand, YouTube is more about advertising than ever before: it has 1.8 billion logged-in viewers each month.

- Apple had record high revenue for Q2. Interestingly, both this and Delta’s strategy of keeping prices high show that there is money to be made targeting the upper-middle class demographic.

- Unsurprisingly, the real reason for the Asda-Sainsbury merge was Amazon.
