Last week, I created a poll asking two of the Revelle College Facebook pages what they thought was the best meme of 2018. I received 37 votes. Here are the top 3 results:

1. Surprised Pikachu — 22 votes (59%)

Surprised Pikachu took the 2022 page by storm, winning 17 of its 20 votes. It was no slouch in the 2019 group page either, earning 5 of its 17 votes. (Image drawn by me)

It’s not hard to see why Surprised Pikachu made the number one spot: he’s cute, he’s blurry, and he’s the embodiment of the self-deprecating irony we all feel at times.

2. I Don’t Feel So Good — 8 votes (21%)

Although coming in a modest 2nd place, I Don’t Feel So Good took first place in the 2019 group page, where all of its 8 votes comes from. (Image drawn by me)

We all laughed to mask the pain we felt at the ending of Avengers: Infinity War and it seems that laugh carried it’s way from the end of April all the way into the new year.

3. Hit or Miss — 2 votes (5%)

Hit or Miss received 1 vote each across the 2 polls, making it equally popular among freshmen and seniors. (Image drawn by me)

I guess it never misses, huh? Love it or hate it, this polarizing TikTok meme squeaked its way into the Top 3, if not into our hearts as well.

Final results of the full poll:

Surprised Pikachu — 22 votes. I Don’t Feel So Good — 8 votes. Hit or Miss — 2 votes. Fantasy Painting Object Labeling — 1 vote. Alexa Play Despacito — 1 vote. Is This a Pigeon? — 1 vote. Moths — 1 vote. Who Killed Hannibal? — 1 vote.
