Godsbanen, one of Denmark’s largest train freight yards is now hosting one of the most interesting underground scene in Aarhus Festival, especially for youths between 12 and 20.

Many young people attended a Rap concert, experiencing a party in the club. The event, organised by Godsbanen and Aarhus Festival was only for 13 to 17 year old people. Nor drugs neither alcohol were permitted.

Turn off the light, turn up the volume. The first artist comes in. Let the music start!! At first, the young people were shy and insecure but after few songs they began singing. Teens from different social class enjoyed the music, without preconceptions or social biases.

It was a success.

Many teens like to go outside for a break, smoking cigarettes or simply hang out with friends waiting for the next performance.

“I like rap music. I like there’re this kind of events in the city.” Moussa says, 16.

The Rap scene at Godsbanen lives side by side with skaters.

August is one of them. He likes go skate in Godsbanen after school. “The place is nice, lot of young and there’s a lot of space for practicing.” August says.

Unfortunately, the municipality of Aarhus plans to redevelop the area with new housings. As consequence, many of these young people will be forced to find a new place to have fun and hang out.
