Ikigai Life Chart

Recently, I got my hands on a rather attractive-looking book — Ikigai.

The word ‘Ikigai’ is a mix of two Japanese words ‘Iki’ (meaning ‘life’) and ‘Kai’ (meaning ‘effect’). I was hooked after I read the first few pages, and completed reading the book in under a week. In this article,

we have shared our views on the book ‘Ikigai — The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life’.

The Universe exists for a reason.

There is a reason why humans are given a beautiful planet to live in.

All creatures, great and small, work towards a common purpose to achieve a sense of fulfillment and strive to make this world a better place to live in.

For some, it might be benevolence. For others, it might be materialistic gain. Irrespective of an individual’s goal, it is imperative to work towards achieving the goal, and its effects are manifold if a person contributes to the greater good in the process.

A significant number of people know about the Japanese way of living.

The ancient practice of the Ikigai technique is slowly being adopted by people around the globe. In their book ‘Ikigai’, Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles have poured in their experience of exploring the secret, and have presented it in a way that is understood by novice and seasoned readers alike.

‘Ikigai’ talks about ‘the way of living’. It focuses on the overall development of a person.

The practices that enhance the physical and mental health of a person are presented in a way that people are motivated to follow them. The ancient secrets of longevity and mindfulness are blended with a modern approach which is bound to be applauded by the readers.

The beauty of this book lies in its relatability with real life. It unapologetically talks about things that humans are doing wrongly and suggests ways to improve them.

It talks about passion, habits and lifestyle. It is almost unbelievable to think how rich the content of this book is.

‘Ikigai’ is undoubtedly an enlightening read. It is not only informative, but it has the potential to do wonders if the practices mentioned in it are adopted in daily life. The book is a wound up under 200 pages, but the ideas given therein can be explored for a lifetime.
