Ever read a book that felt like a warm hug? One that assured you it’s okay to not be okay and that everything will be just fine in the end?

Minor Disturbances At Grand Life Apartments by Hema Sukumar is one such delicious read. It makes you pause and appreciate the little things in everyday life that are mundane yet valuable.

The plot wraps around the lives of the three tenants of Grand Life Apartments, who occupy a floor each. They are in very different phases of their lives and deal with their own set of worries, in the backdrop of a larger ‘disturbance’ that plagues their residence and its owner.

Revealing how they scramble through the various puzzles that life throws at them — it’s a story well told. The characters are painted in vibrant colour. The intimate descriptions of their thoughts and actions make you think that you would have acted the same way.

The story is further brought alive with vivid descriptions of homes, kitchens and streets that appeal to all of your senses, and this appeal starts right from the cover design!

At times, I felt like the author has put all of her writing lessons to work in the 279 pages to make it a relatable read, but that does not take any of its beauty away.

So if you’re looking for a book to curl up with on a lazy weekend afternoon, this is the right place!
