Artists Showcase: Adding Wits to Classic, Korean Artist & Mellow Art Award Winner Jungbin Hwang (Bani) Joins Revival
Winner of The Mellow Art Award, Jungbin Hwang (also known as Bani), a well-known Korean fashion designer, and painting artist, signed a contract with the Revival NFT trading platform and joined the “Medici Support Program”.
Jungbin Hwang is a versatile and knowledgeable artist. She grew up in an art-inspired environment and naturally became attracted to fine art in which she discovered her talent and was well-acknowledged by others.
After studying multiple art forms since high school, Jungbin Hwang decided to specialize in textile art, fashion design and painting at Hongik University School of Fine Arts.
Jungbin Hwang was fascinated by the style of the work, which is not just an image that can be seen and read, but rather like a password and a puzzle to be solved in her mind. Aspired to do something different to her art and break the stereotypes, Jungbin expresses the beauty of the harmonious images and symbols that are pure and strong, as if drawn by a child.
Life itself is art. Looking for art in life, keeping dreams, and keeping attention on real life is her source of creativity. To her, artistic creation is a better way of communicating than language.
Based on life and bold expression, Jungbin Hwang has formed her distinctive style through the learning, thinking, and practice of various arts, and made creative transformations based on familiar things in daily life. Her fashion designs are unique, especially for the oil painting as it’s uninhibited but vivid, and the contrast between the overall and the partial is impactful and strong.
Putting hard work into art creations, she gradually gained worldwide popularity and was invited to global exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. During her university years from 2009 to 2013, Jungbin Hwang participated in Seoul Fashion Week and participated twice in art exhibitions held by Swarovski. In February 2015, she was invited to Las Vegas, USA to attend the MAGIC SHOW, the most representative professional clothing exhibition in the United States. Her highly endorsed works were even exhibited again in August 2015.
In the same year, Jungbin Hwang held her solo exhibition《Bani Hwang》at a famous Art Gallery in New York.
Later, she began to publish art reviews and had a personal column in the Korean Daily Business News, meanwhile, she was the Chief editor of Seoul Culture and Art magazine P-art. During this period, she didn’t stop her creation. Her works such as《CALMA》,《Nature Sleep》,《 Luda Design》were acquired and collected by private collectors.
In 2020, Jungbin Hwang held a solo exhibition “Beauty in the Ordinary” to illustrate her artistic philosophy. This year, she won the prestigious The Mellow Art Award Special Award.
