Five One-Day Festivals To Try Before Summer Is Over
In case you were unaware, festival season is well and truly underway. The Great Escape is fast becoming a faded memory and the ring of Glasto is slowly subsiding but there’s still a sea of festivals yet to land on our shores. Step aside V Festival, I’ve searched the outermost regions of the internet to find the best one-day festivals worth your time (and money!).
1. Trajections_
When: 19/08/17
Where: Lakota, Bristol
*Calling all Bristolite Ravers*, we have a one-day festival just for you. Trajections_ returns to the roots of rave. With names such as CASisDEAD, President T and Kev Brown, Trajections_ showcases the “best of urban music in its many guises.”
This festival isn’t solely limited to the seasoned ravers of the south west. For aspiring ravers nationwide this is a great place to come, listen and rave.
Top Acts to See:
- CASisDEAD
- Kev Brown
- President T
2. Down the Garden Path
When: 19/08/17
Where: The Gallery Cafe, London
Now for something completely different. If Trajections_ is the festival of rave then Down the Garden Path is the festival of chill. Listen to new and emerging acoustic, folk and indie acts accompanied by a fresh, cool G&T.
Top Acts to See:
- Rebecca Vaughan
- Shaun Redlake
- Another Chapter
3. Spiritual Records Summer Festival
When: 28/08/17
Where: The Monarch, Chalk Farm, London
If you’ve ever tipped your toe into the chalk farm blues music scene, you will definitely be familiar with Spiritual Records. As well as making some of the finest mojitos in north London, Spiritual Records host some of the best blues music found in the London music scene.
This festival is a celebration of all that Spiritual Records does best; blues, mojitos and people (mainly the mojitos though, seriously they are great). The festival line up includes names from their own record label including Sebastian Schub, Kevin White and Richard Spence.
Top Acts to See:
- Sebastian Schub
- Kevin White
- Richard Spence
4. Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia
When: 22/09/17
Where: Various Venues, Liverpool
Ok I’ve cheated here. Technically the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia runs over two days. BUT, it is the best way of introducing yourself to Liverpool’s music scene, plus you can always just go for the one day. Taking place in the emerging music district of the Baltic Triangle, LIFP is the best place to lose yourself before finding yourself again with better friends and a better taste in music.
Top Acts to See:
- Songhoy Blues
- The Comet is Coming
- Endless Boogie
5. Hospitality in the Park
When: 23/09/17
Where: London
Returning to Finsbury Park after a successful sell-out show last summer is Hospitality in the Park. Marking the end of the festival season, this is the best way to enjoy the end of the British Summer. Although this is hosted by drum and bass label Hospital Records, I would recommend this festival even if this isn’t your music scene. Great atmosphere, great vibe and a great big hot air balloon.
Top Acts to See:
- DJ Gilla
- Russ Ryan
- Spin Doctor
