On Election Day, we reported on the Politics of Hip Hop and the data is in!

Early estimates indicate the youth SHOWED UP and MADE THEIR VOICES HEARD at the polls last week, voting at historic rates: 31% of 18–29 year olds participated in the midterms, a big uptick from 21% in 2014 (Circle). As we predicted, the youth agenda was indeed progressive, choosing Democratic candidates 2-to-1, which in turn resulted in the average age of our newly elected congress being 10 years younger than before… WHOA! (Rock the Vote)

Given our own findings (pre-midterm) that 85% of the youth felt disconnected from politicians and candidates, their latest support for liberals and election of new Millennials is a collective, direct response to represent themselves in space they’ve never had a presence in.

THE TAKEAWAY
As the most mixed, inclusive and woke generation in history, this active stance to balance the current state of power is meant to protect the diversity and forward-thinking young America embodies.
