In today’s digital age, where the youth are getting a majority of their news from social media, much of what we need to know about what’s happening in the world is getting lost in the constant stream of digital static. Where convolution has become commonplace, who can be trusted to address the most pertinent issues we’re facing?

Our latest research indicates that the youth are 42% more likely to feel that global issues are more adequately addressed in Hip Hop than they are by society at large (across the government, education system, and news).

Reflecting recent data from Spotify’s Global Trends Report that 66% of Gen Z and Millennials expect brands to promote more progressive values and play a more meaningful role in society, this gen has turned to Hip Hop’s charged outspokenness to fill a societal void where forward dialogue and action are lacking.

Recently, 21 Savage donated $25,000 to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a non-profit legal organization that advocated for his release after ICE arrested him on claims he was living in the U.S. illegally. 21 has since criticized ICE, promising to raise awareness around “broken” immigration policies.
