While the Recording Academy has had a contentious relationship with Hip Hop over the years, The Culture still made historic wins at this year’s 61st Grammys. A Hip Hop first, Childish Gambino’s viral “This is America” won Song of the Year, while ever-flamboyant Cardi B became the first solo female to win Best Rap Album for her Invasion of Privacy. REVOLT celebrates all of Hip Hop’s wins, making motions for more diverse cultural representation in music.
