Revolve Games Integrates Chainlink VRF to Fairly Assign Random Traits to Character NFTs
Revolve Games is excited to announce we have integrated Chainlink VRF to enable the creation of unique, in-game character and vehicle NFTs involving an element of chance. When users mint new characters/NFT assets in the Revolve Games metaverse they will be assigned random traits using the verifiably tamper-proof randomness supplied by Chainlink VRF. However, users who stake more in the Revolve Games metaverse will have a higher probability of earning rarer traits. The integration is already available on BSC and Polygon, with plans to launch on other blockchains in the future.
This latest integration is in line with our vision for Revolve Games, which is to build a gaming ecosystem and DeFi economy that innovates, challenges, and redefines the gaming experience. By integrating Chainlink VRF, we are able to push the boundaries of what’s possible in blockchain gaming by bringing unprecedented transparency to the source of randomness creating entropy in the Revolve Games metaverse.
As a unique character-driven game, Revolve Games has a wide range of vehicle NFTs and character NFT traits such as skin type, helmet, boots, tattoos, and more. These will become an integral part of a character’s (r)evolution, making the mechanism of distributing those NFTs and traits crucial to fair gameplay. We view this integration as a natural progression in Revolve Games’ path towards decentralized gaming, further strengthening the two core components of the Revolve Games metaverse: user experience and security.
The Benefits of Chainlink VRF
Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function) is an open-source, verifiable random number generator (RNG) solution purpose-built for smart contracts. Chainlink VRF generates a tamper-proof source of randomness in a fully auditable manner that users can then rely on to create unpredictable outcomes on blockchains.
Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Revolve Games smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This helps provide users with automated and publicly verifiable proof directly on-chain that each NFT mint using Chainlink VRF is provably random and was not tampered with or predicted by the oracle, outside entities, or the Revolve Games team.
Verifiable randomness aligns closely with our vision for the Revolve Games metaverse by helping ensure our applications always operate in an unbiased and provably fair manner!
How Revolve Games Uses Chainlink VRF
To take gameplay to the next level, we will reward players that stake more in the Revolve Games Metaverse. When a user generates a character, a player’s traits are randomized based on a weight system. The more you stake, the higher chance a player has of acquiring a rare trait over a common trait.
That means the more you stake, the more unique, powerful, and cooler your character will be in the Revolve Games metaverse! When it comes to generating these random traits, Chainlink VRF allows us to use the power of oracles and secure off-chain computation to make sure everybody is subject to the same rules when it comes to earning rare traits and NFTs! Importantly, the randomness is not exposed to common miner exploits while also providing transparency not present in most off-chain RNG solutions.
