The Story Of A Househelp And A Doctor

A friend told me how a family in her apartment complex got tested positive for COVID-19.

Things got worrisome as my friend and the sick family shared a househelp. As a precautionary measure, the doctor advised the househelp to be quarantined in a separate apartment inside the complex. Loneliness and stress consumed the househelp. To manage the stigma, the doctor assured everyone that quarantining would be the best way forward and that there was nothing to worry about, healthwise.

When we read a story, we imagine the characters in it. I am sure you imagined my friend, her househelp, the sick family, and the doctor.

Did you imagine the househelp to be a woman? Because he was not.
Did you imagine the doctor to be a man? Because she was not.

Great if you did not. But for the rest of us, we are the victims of the default.
