Shifting with the sands of time

When I was a kid,

my dreams reached for the stars…

Envisioning myself to explore the Universe.

I dreamt of floating above the Earth alongside the stoic Mr. Spock,

untethered and free.

In the dimly lit corners of my room, the stories of Marie Curie whispered,

urging me to become a scientist,

to untangle the mysteries of the atom and beyond,

unravelling the universe’s mysteries.

But the disciplined waves of the sea whispered promises of adventure.

I saw myself standing strong and proud as a navy captain.

Guiding the ship as Captain Tom Chandler did.

But just as the stars shift in the sky, so too did my dreams.

The cogs and wheels of Alan Turing’s machines intrigued me.

I wanted to be an engineer,

to speak the silent language of machines,

make them dance to my tune.

I tried to find solace in the structured world of engineering.

With time, my dreams shifted.

As the seasons of life changed,

I yearned not for titles or accolades,

but for the simple joy of happiness.

But the complexities of existence weigh heavily on my shoulders now,

making me long for an escape,

A release from the bindings of life.

I am a researcher and engineer by profession. However, sometimes, I write poems and my personal opinion about how I see the world.
