Post-it Notes From God

A poem

Life comes alive today;
sometimes under the cover of the night,
before the day awakens,
my senses harvest meaning from the darkness
when the world seems still.

I find insight; God’s little memos
floating post-it notes scribbled.
Instructions, tips — even jokes,
even a random panacea.
But mostly, riddles I cannot answer
each one stuck to the fridge.

‘Daylight in the swamp’ my Dad would say.

It beguiles me to this day,
when life is still covered by night,
and I’m wide awake.
