Erika Ralston Receives Jerry R. Junkins Memorial Scholarship

Richardson High School’s Erika Ralston, recently named a National Merit Scholar Finalist, added another academic accomplishment to her growing portfolio last week by earning the Texas Instruments Jerry R. Junkins Memorial Scholarship.

The Richardson-based corporation awards its annual scholarship to National Merit Finalists whose parents are TI employees. The awardee must also plan to pursue a major or career within TI-focused fields.

The Jerry R Junkins Memorial Scholarship honors TI’s late chairman, president and CEO Jerry Junkins. Junkins had a passion for education and fought for education reform in Texas schools by promoting measurement and accountability in the classroom. Since its inception in 1996, TI has awarded 367 Junkins Merit Scholarships, amounting to more than $1.3 million.

Erika is among thirteen RISD seniors, from all 4 Richardson high schools, who became one of the 16,000 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
