STEM in the Schoolyard

Almost 300 sixth grade students from six schools, and about 180 corporate volunteers were immersed in fun and interactive science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities on the football field at Berkner High School during a STEM in the Schoolyard event on April 9th.

Hadeel Salman, the mother of a sixth grader at Jess Harben Elementary, was ecstatic to be chaperoning the event. “I am so happy my son is involved in STEM and able to participate in this kind of learning,” Salman said. “This is one of the most enriching things the district has done. This kind of event pushes our kids to work hard and help them achieve their passion.”

The event was sponsored by United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and presented by Mr. Cooper and Texas Instruments.

Enroll Your Child Online for the 2019–20 School Year

All students who will be new or returning to RISD for the 2019–20 school year may now enroll online. Paper enrollment is no longer available. Parents whose children will be attending school in RISD in 2019–20 should enroll online without delay.

Like last year, returning students will need a unique “snapcode” to enroll. Snapcodes were sent to parents by their child’s current school — contact your school if you need a snapcode or would like to use a school device to enroll your child online.
