Meditation is available for those of us who will never journey on a pilgrimage, study at a monastery, or live in an ashram. For us, it will never be necessary to acquire any type of special seat, sitting posture, or cushion.
We will never need a dogmatic practice, habitual ritual, or discipline.
It requires breath, attention, and discovering one present moment.
TIME: After Your Birth — Before Your Death
As a human being it will be easy for you to develop a habit. In this case, I want you to learn how to habitually give yourself space for one moment. This time might be found as you wake-up the morning, before the world claims your service. You may find these moments sitting in your car, before you go inside to start the work day, take your lunch break, or head back home. It could even occur at night, before you drift off into slumber.
SPACE: Open Your Mind — Feel Your Body
Once you have established your habit of creating time, fill it with space. Your mind is a catacomb of alienation, anxiety, and apprehension. Observe the nature of your thoughts, see the pattern of endless rumination. Melt into your body. Use the sensation of being to…
