Milwaukee Brewers leadoff hitter Carlos Gomez thought he hit a home run into the left field stands in his first at-bat against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
The one thing he forgot to do; make sure it stayed in fair.
That would’ve saved him the embarrassment of running around the bases like he hit a home run and not realizing that the ball went foul till he rounded 3rd base. Give credit to the Phillies infielders, not one of them tried to stop Gomez and the Philly fans who gave Gomez a standing ovation when he returned home.
On the next pitch, Gomez struck out.
