Don’t Touch Adrian Beltre’s Head

The photo above is of Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington rubbing the head of Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre as he takes him out of the game on Tuesday night in a defeat to the Toronto Blue Jays. After this photo was taken, Washington walks away with a hop in his step knowing exactly what he just did. Beltre is shocked and grabs his head as if Washington might have caused severe damage. The other players on the bench break out in hysterics (even though in the photo, they look concerned and frightened).

“It surprised me he did that,” Beltre said, smiling. “I think he knew what he was doing. He had that smirk as he walked away.”

This is one of the most bizare sagas that has gone on over the past two years. Do NOT rub Adrian Beltre’s head! Although Beltre is in his fourteenth season in the majors, his extreme anger over other players rubbing his head seems to have only started last year when he was a member of the Boston Red Sox.
