Fourteen officials from FIFA were indicted Wednesday morning by the United States Justice Department on 47-counts of corruption charges. Hours later, Swiss federal prosecutors started their own criminal proceedings looking into the bidding process of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which were won by Russia and Qatar, respectively.

According to the indictment, the corruption dates back to 1991 with FIFA officials “engaging in various criminal activities, including fraud, bribery and money laundering.”

Here at RideThePine.com, we can’t figure out why the US Attorney General would waste time and resources going after the top International officials of the least popular sport in America. Don’t we have more important things to do than getting involved in which shitty country wants to pay to host the World Cup?

In this episode of Ride The Pine, we head to Twitter and get the funniest reaction to the #FIFA arrests. Not surprisingly, most American sports fans were surprised to learn that FIFA was more then just a video game.
