Former NFLer Won A Boxing Match On A Great Phantom Punch
This match makes Mr. T vs Roddy Rowdy Piper an instant classic. The giant man in the ring is Ray Edwards, a former defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings and — for some of last year — the Atlanta Falcons. Despite being only 28, Edwards NFL career seems to be over after he was released in November of 2012 from the Falcons one year removed from a 5-year contract with $11 million guaranteed.
Now, Edwards has taking on boxing as a second career and put his 1–0 undefeated record on the line against Cory Briggs, Minnesota’s 13th rank heavyweight fighter in the state. I’m assuming that there are only 13 fighters in Minnesota because Briggs was 0–3 going into the bout and I couldn’t find anyone ranked lower than him.
Briggs, who was rocking the Rocky American Flag trunks, threw himself into the air and came crashing down to the mat after not being hit. Rocky would be so proud.
