The death of Notre Dame student Declan Sullivan is something that should be very closely investigated by the University of Notre Dame and OSHA and the punishments should be harsh. Declan Sullivan, a twenty year-old junior at Notre Dame and the football team’s videographer, was filming practice on Wednesday when high wind gusts caused the scissors lift he was stationed at to topple over and cause that fatal fall.

Sullivan’s prophetic tweets, will send a chill down your spine;

“Gusts of wind up to 60 miles an hour. Well today will be fun at work. I guess I’ve lived long enough.”

Someone associated with the football operations made the fatal decision that the filming of their PRACTICE was worth the risk of someones life. Sullivan’s tweets proved that this was not some random wind gust that caught everyone off guard (as the university will have you believe). All parties involved in that decision, whether its the Athletic Director or Head Coach Brian Kelly, should be terminated. What’s even more disgusting is the fact that Notre Dame has two stationary towers that practice could be filmed from but instead choose to use a mobile scissor lift, to get a better view.

More than likely, this situation will be swept under the rug at Notre Dame. No one will lose their job.

This will be a topic that will be talked about in the next episode of Ride The Pine…
