If you happen to subscribe to WWE Classics On Demand, they are currently airing a wrestling card from October 20th, 1986 held at Madison Square Garden.

During a segment of “Piper’s Pit” that featured Rowdy Roddy Piper and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan an interesting prediction was made about that year’s World Series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.

When the event was held, the heavily-favored Mets were trailing the Red Sox 0–2 after losing their first two games at home. Things looked bleak for the Mets and Heenan didn’t miss an opportunity to let the New York crowd know about it.

“How about those Red Sox?!” is how Heenan started the segment.

Piper’s response would be ominous for Red Sox Nation, “I bet you $50 right now that the Mets take it.”

The price continued to rise until the two men agreed on $10,000.
