And Boom goes the dynamite…or the ball bag!
Umpire John Hirschbeck was the victim of a Nick Maronde fastball that went right off the glove of Chris Iannetta in the top of the 4th inning. Not sure if Hirschbeck was wearing a cup but if anyone has ever been hit in the cup with a baseball knows that it still rattles the cage.
The Angels ended up losing to the Texas Rangers 11–3 but Hirschbeck was the real loser.
