Warren Sapp Stiffs Waitress For Calling Group “Boys”

Here’s an interesting side story from the US Men’s National Team 2–1 loss to Belgium in the 2014 World Cup. A waitress in Florida posted on Twitter that Sapp was one of her customers prior to the game and didn’t leave a tip.

The only thing that Sapp left for the waitress was a message on the receipt, “Boys don’t tip.” ESPN reporter Darren Rovell was the first person to report this story.

People went to Twitter to defend and attack Sapp. Two theories was that this receipt was a hoax or he possibly left a cash tip but Sapp confirmed the details on Twitter.

The reason behind the “Boys don’t tip” message?

Who knows how this waitress was using the turn “boys.” Was she saying it in a condescending, redneck, racist way or was she trying to be cute and playful? Obviously Sapp felt like it was the former.
