Past the piers at Sheepshead Bay, I step into another moment of serenity.
Tranquil waters topped by graceful swans, the fullness of spring’s new growth softening urbanity’s concrete, and soft blue skies with wisps of clouds invite reflection.
Pausing, I survey the glassy and glistening parts of the water and how they remain separate, though together. I choose not to wonder why there is no apparent mixing of the two but a separation, like oil and water.
Later investigations reveal that water glistens or glints depending on the number of points of reflection and the slope of its surface.
