As with most things, grief doesn’t come with a guidebook. It’s a personal journey that differs from person to person. Even when multiple people grieve the same loss, their journeys won’t be the same.

Grief isn’t linear — it doesn’t follow a clearly defined path. It moves back and forth minute by minute, hour by hour, and day by day. Even with time, grief still rears its ugly head, and we find ourselves skillfully riding the crest of a wave one minute, followed by crashing and wiping out the next.

As the days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years, grief isn’t something we get through but rather learn to live alongside. It’s like a dark passenger accompanying us, sitting on our shoulders and casting a shadow. It’s a constant reminder that something isn’t quite right.
