It is a typical day — Nothing different. But I feel the weight of my sons’ health, work demands, and no resolution to a two-year-old problem impacting multiple areas of life.

Today, I must work more diligently at curating peace. Awareness, breathing, contemplation, sleep, and other self-nurturing practices must multiply.

On a walk to run an errand and check something off my to-do list, I spy this wrought iron gate.

I walk past it, then backtrack to admire her.

Later, I revisit her image on my phone.

She stands alone, with no connecting fence or wall.

With her peeling paint and rust-covered form, the unsupported gate declares her age. Her intricate scrollwork confirms her identity as a relic and a witness to time.
