Earlier this month, Metro McAllen introduced a new microtransit pilot project, Micro McAllen, in McAllen. This on-demand shared ride service is great for short, local trips within the designated northwest zone in McAllen.

Micro McAllen uses mobile app technology powered by RideCo. Similar to any other ride-share service, the Micro McAllen app — available in the Apple Store or on Google Play—allows riders to plan and book their trips Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. by using real-time booking and vehicle tracking. Trips can also be booked online by visiting https://book.micromcallen.rideco.com or by calling (956) 329–5018. The maximum occupancy in the vehicle is five people and the vehicle is wheelchair accessible.

Rides on Micro McAllen will mirror the existing Metro McAllen fixed route fare structure: $1.00 per ride or the reduced fare of $0.50 for eligible riders, including students, seniors 60 years and older and persons with Medicare and/or disabilities. An I.D. or Metro McAllen Reduced Fare Card must be presented to receive the reduced fare.

For more information, please contact Micro McAllen at (956) 681–3510.
