Meet Our New Head of Investor Relations: Karen Brewer!
Ah, spring. The season of new beginnings. What better time to announce our new Head of Investor Relations: Karen Brewer!
Karen brings boatloads of fund-erful IR experience to The Ridge Familia. At every stop along her investor relations journey she’s continually taken on more responsibility, and developed extensive relationships within the LP community.
Karen’s other superpowers? Operational excellence and a refreshing sense of camaraderie. The “team player” label gets thrown around a lot these days, but Karen exemplifies it to the fullest. Her love for celebrating the accomplishments of her colleagues and portfolio founders is only equaled by her deftness at navigating the ins and outs of LP relations.
Karen was previously a Partner, IR and Operations at Unusual Ventures where she was the first investor relations hire and built the firm’s IR function from the ground up. Prior to Unusual, Karen sharpened her IR chops at SailingStone Capital Partners, an investment firm focused on global natural resources, and Abrams Capital, a Boston-based outfit.
Earlier in her career, after graduating from Cornell (summa cum laude) with a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management, Karen worked as an Analyst at Credit Suisse, in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group. She later joined the startup frontlines, serving as Director of Operations at HireAthena.
Karen’s spent a decade in the investor relations game, boasts a successful track record in both operations and LP strategy, and excelled in high-level IR roles with no shortage of responsibilities. It’s indeed a tantalizing trifecta, and speaks nothing of Karen’s empathy, collaborative spirit, and good old-fashioned positive vibes — traits you would expect from someone who was born and raised in the Aloha State.
Outside of VC land, you’ll find Karen immersed in a good book, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or running or hiking the scenic trails of San Francisco.
