The Ridge Familia Adds Three: Rewind, Zipline, Ketch
Three months in, three awesome startups joining our portfolio: Rewind, Zipline, and Ketch.
All three companies feature top-notch founders with deep domain expertise. Here is what they do (very well):
- Rewind is a backup-as-a-service solution that retroactively protects business-critical data.
- Zipline is an operations platform that streamlines communication for brick-and-mortar stores.
- Ketch makes compliance a cinch by automating data privacy and security.
SafeGraph Bags $45 Million Series B
SafeGraph is seriously going places. The geospatial juggernaut recently raised $45 million on its mission to become the go-to source for physical location data, specifically point-of-interest and foot traffic data.
Led by ex-LiveRamp co-founder/CEO Auren Hoffman, SafeGraph also has designs on democratizing access to data. With its new funding, and plans to expand into the UK in a few weeks, SafeGraph is well on its way.
Ahoy! Yousuf & Alex Steer the Thought Leader Ship
Ridge Managing Partner Alex Rosen and Partner Yousuf Khan penned some big-time bylines in Q1. Alex waxed philosophical on the topic of data decentralization for VentureBeat. Yousuf broke down the process and benefits of customer advisory boards for TechCrunch.
Life on the Edge: F5 & Fastly Make Money Moves
F5, one of our earliest investments, has been on quite the spending spree of late. After buying Shape Security for $1 billion in December 2019, they spent $500 million in January to acquire Volterra and build Edge 2.0: “an open edge platform that will allow every service to run on any server, virtual or otherwise, inclusive of public clouds.”
ThirdLove Solves Bra-blems, Discord Welcomes New CFO
ThirdLove, a.k.a. Victoria’s Secret’s worst nightmare, launched a virtual fitting room feature in January. The Fitting Room, powered by data from more than 17.6 million women, offers extensive personalization and has boosted mobile conversions.
Discord made headlines after officially hiring its first CFO, Tomasz Marcinkowski. Previously the Head of Finance at Pinterest, Marcinkowski joined our favorite chat platform fresh off its $100 million fundraise in December 2020.
Trifacta, Deduce, & InCountry Roll Out the Red Carpet
Oscars? Grammys? Pulitzers? C’mon. The Ridge portfolio is where the real awards are being won.
Trifacta, “The GOAT of Data Prep,” won the Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice Award in February. InCountry’s data-residency-as-a-service platform earned a nod from CRN. And fraudster kryptonite Deduce is a finalist for the prestigious Edison Awards.
