The importance of your tech rider contact list
The contact list involves 4 types of parties involved in concert organizing:
- Band members —
Who they are and what are they playing
2. Administrative leaders —
The ones who are project leaders and are responsible for almost any kind of communication. They are usually contacted first, in good and bad. Mostly they are band managers, production managers etc in the band crew.
3. Operational leaders —
Those are the people to whom you go to with very certain questions. For example, it can be a person who is responsible for merchandise sales or the head of the lighting.
4. Touring party —
The ones that are usually only affected by the touring crew inside communication. They do what they do best in their position but usually, no one outside of the band touring crew contacts them first.
When the contacts list is organized and contains necessary people, then it is very easy to look up and contact the right person. Administrative and operational leaders should be always included with their contact information.
Also, the tech rider should always list everyone who is on the touring crew at least by name and position.
Do not write in your tech rider that touring crew will be 15 people. 15 people of who? The organizer has to accredit them in order to have an access to the venue etc. If the organizer has to ask you the contact details and you have to send them, rather having them ready in your tech rider, then it’s a waste of time for both of you.
Also, think open — you can also list your Skype or other contact information so that people could contact you in the fastest way possible.
Who are we to talk about it?
