This weekend, January 13–14, 2018, RightMesh will be attending the 18th season of nwHacks, Western Canada’s Largest Hackathon, hosted at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. We’re excited to participate in this event with over 600 bright minds building transformational new technology.

There will be 10 RightMesh team members available to mentor RightMesh hackathon teams throughout the event. Our mesh scientists, blockchain engineers, product managers and UX designers will be available to help with project ideation, implementation and testing.

Up to 25 hackathon teams will have the opportunity to build RightMesh enabled applications at the event complete with phones for testing the mesh functionality.

To help support these teams and other interested participants Dr. Jason Ernst will be hosting a workshop on “How to Build a Mesh Networking App Using RightMesh” on Saturday, January 13th at 4:15pm in LSC 3.

Prepare to build a RightMesh App at nwHacks

If you’re interested in building a RightMesh app hack at nwHacks, here are a few things you can do to get prepared!

Before the event:

At nwHacks:

  • Come find the RightMesh team in the morning to get setup with the phones you’ll need to create a mesh enabled app. We’ll be wearing Node Body t-shirts.
  • Attend Jason’s workshop on “How to Build a Mesh Networking App Using RightMesh” on Saturday, January 13th at 4:15pm in LSC 3

Hackathon participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes through two competitions sponsored by RightMesh.

nwHacks Competition #1: Win $1000 CAD worth of ETH for building the Best Mobile App using the RightMesh SDK

RightMesh is on a mission to connect the next billion through decentralized mobile mesh networks, and here’s your chance to make an impact. The team that builds the mobile hack app at nwHacks that most effectively uses the RightMesh SDK will be awarded with $1000 CAD worth of ETH. The competition submissions will be judged by Dr. Jason Ernst, CTO and Chief Scientist of RightMesh.

nwHacks Competition #2: Tweet us a RightMesh use case to win a hardware wallet

Attendees can participate in a Twitter contest to win a KeepKey Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet! To enter:

  • Follow @Right_Mesh on Twitter
  • Tweet us @Right_Mesh with an idea for RightMesh use case or app idea and use the hashtag #hackingrightmesh (it doesn’t have to be one you are working on at the event)

We’ll randomly select a winner at the end of the nwHacks event on Sunday.

We can’t wait to see what these participants create. If you’re attending, come say hi! We hope to see you there.
