Business Development

June was a hectic, yet exciting month on the business development front! Not only did we operate as a new business unit, but we also made substantial progress on several key development activities that have been in the pipeline.

At the beginning of the month, our product team and the communications team merged forces together to form a single business team focused on outreach opportunities with prospect partners and customers, with the short-term goal of attaining strategic pilot deals over the next few months. Collectively this team has many cross-functional skills ranging from on-the-ground sales to B2B marketing to research & analysis to solution design.

The team continued to invest a lot of time and effort focusing on Latin America, especially Colombia this month due to its government initiatives to improve digital literacy. We had a number of great discussions in Bogotá and Medellin. In addition, we’re making good progress on exploring viable solutions in providing last mile-connectivity to reach challenging and hard to reach rural areas, as well as applying RightMesh technology to smart cities.

If you are in LATAM and would like to explore pilot project opportunities to use RightMesh, we’d love to have a conversation with you. Please contact our business team at partnership@rightmesh.io

Network Traffic Measurement and Analysis Conference (TMA Conference 2019)

The TMA Conference was an exclusive event where both early-stage and mature research was presented on all aspects of network measurements. The conference focused on improving the practice and/or application of measurements across the entire network stack to the application layer, with an emphasis on new areas of network communication.

RightMesh CTO, Dr. Jason Ernst, presented as the keynote MNM workshop speaker. His talk was on ‘An overview of open source tools being developed to support improving connectivity in the Canadian north and beyond’. Within rural and remote regions of Canada, where there is either a lack of cellular access or several communities in a region share a connection via point to point towers which is then distributed over old copper wires, making connectivity a challenge or near impossible. RightMesh is working with the community of Rigolet to develop mesh network technology to help solve these connectivity issues. Jason’s talk went into depth on the tools used to measure the project’s performance, as well as device density and mobility patterns in the community. He also discussed the limitations of existing tools that are often not open source, and the data they generate.

We are hiring MITACs Interns!

In November 2018, RightMesh announced our collaboration with the University of Guelph and Mitacs Canada on a $2.13M research project to support the development of RightMesh. The partnership supports up to 120 graduate student internships over five years, from universities across Canada, to improve connectivity in Northern Canada.

We’re hiring Mitacs interns and are currently looking for PhD Researchers and Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join our innovative team.
