RightMesh, MIT Media Lab, Colendi, and Mattereum Panel to Speak at SXSW 2019
Thousands of people and companies submitted proposals to present at SXSW 2019…we are pleased to announce that our panel is one the few that has been selected!
RightMesh CEO, John Lyotier, along with Senior Advisor of MIT Media Lab, Michael Casey, CEO of Mattereum, Vinay Gupta, and a representative from Colendi, will be speaking on ‘Combating Global Poverty on the Blockchain.’
Each of the speakers will offer their unique perspectives on how to address the issue of the growing digital divide felt by underprivileged global citizens. This is a problem close to our hearts at RightMesh, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to share our knowledge on a large stage.
Thank you to our amazing community who helped spread the word and voted for our panel to be chosen. Your comments and ‘Up Votes’ led us to being selected, and we could not have done it without your support!
Combating Global Poverty on the Blockchain
Trust in institutions around the world are failing. And in the developing world, only 15% of residents believe the systems in their country are working for them. As a result, more poor and underprivileged global citizens are falling behind the financial and digital divide. Blockchain technologies, through their inherent trust mechanisms, are a potential vehicle for building and restoring that trust by helping isolated communities get online, connected and verified to participate in the financial infrastructure that can empower entire regions. Solutions exist today, sometimes only requiring the smartphone in their hands, to circumvent the barriers to economic mobility.
- Why has internet access become a fundamental human right?
- How can we establish trust and identity to millions living around the globe?
- How can organizations deploy this technology in developing countries?
