We’re happy to announce the RingCentral Developers Fall 2019 Releases. Please try out our new APIs and sign up for our upcoming beta programs. We hope you find them useful and fun to use.

Overview

The following is a quick list of the items in these release notes, they will be covered in more detail below.

APIs

  • Unified Presence APIs (Beta) Read and update unified presence, a combined presence status for calls, Glip, and Meetings.
  • Real-Time Audio Streaming / Supervise Call API (Beta) — This new real-time audio streaming API allows supervisors of a call queue to listen in or stream live audio from an ongoing agent-customer call. This API can also be used to implement AI use cases like real-time agent assist and live call transcription.
  • Reply with Text API (Beta) — Provides the ability to reply to an incoming call with Standard(Built-in) or Custom message without the need to answer the call.
  • Answer Call Party API (Beta) — This API provides a way to answer an incoming call from a specific endpoint(device).
  • Call Park on Party API (Beta) — Helps to park a call into a standard park location.
  • Ignore Call in Queue API (Beta) This API provides a way to ignore an incoming call on an endpoint(device) so that it will stop ringing. The two call states when an Ignore API would work are Setup and Proceeding states.
  • Pickup Call API (Beta) — Allows to pick up an already parked call by using the partyId of the parked party.

SDKs

Embeddable Web Widget

  • Multi-Tab WebRTC Support — Load Embeddable-powered webpages into any number of browser tabs for coordinated WebRTC calls. This is useful for CRM applications where users may wish to open many browser windows, each with Embeddable present.
  • Contact Sync Enhancements — API and button to allow apps and users to initiate contacts sync. Up to date contacts enables rich displays for inbound calls and call history.
  • Contact Display Enhancements — Users can now see more information for their contacts including company and job title.
  • Set Call From Phone Number API — set the from number in an outbound call by API which supports features like local presence.
  • zIndex Configuration — Allow control positioning on the screen so the widget is always available.

RingCentral Labs Integrations

  • Updated CTI Integrations (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Insightly, Redtail, PracticeSuite)The integrations have: (a) Large Contacts List Support — upgrade to support large numbers of contacts (10,000) with high performance using web browser indexedDB, (b) Multi-Tab WebRTC Support, (c) other Emebeddable features.
  • Glip Auto-Responder Add the ability to automatically listen for and respond to Glip messages.

DX — Developer Experience

Coming Soon / Beta Programs

  • High Volume SMS Beta — With the introduction of High Volume SMS, we will officially support A2P SMS messaging and offer high throughput SMS at 3 messages / second or 180 messages/minute. This is over a 4x increase of our current rate of 40 messages/minute. Click here to sign up for early access.
  • Call Scripting API Preview — Call scripting from RingCentral is the ability to enhance call behavior with your own app to create custom experiences such as dynamic IVR menus, capturing and processing customer inputs such as account numbers, playing custom recordings, and forwarding to humans, for both inbound and outbound calls.
