We are thrilled to announce that Zach Waterfield has joined Ripple Ventures as a Venture Partner. With his diverse background in engineering, entrepreneurship, and investing, Zach brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team & portfolio.
About Zach
Zach grew up in Canada and holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has worked with numerous early and growth-stage companies, gaining valuable insights into various aspects of building successful ventures. With a passion for travel, Zach has lived in multiple cities such as Lima, Porto, San Francisco, Ann Arbor, Toronto, and Vancouver, expanding his perspectives and fostering a love for exploring new places.
Experiences to help Ripple invest and support the best companies
Zach has been involved in various impactful ventures throughout his career. He recently started his own company called Zettlor and runs a founder poker game in Toronto, fostering connections among entrepreneurs. As a Fractional CTO, he assists early-stage companies in building their teams and products, leveraging his expertise to provide strategic guidance. Furthermore, Zach co-manages an Investment Club Syndicate on AngelList alongside Ian Logan (another Ripple Venture Partner), investing in a wide range of promising companies.
Previously, Zach was an Engineering Lead at On Deck, an organization that connects top talent worldwide, where he played a vital role in facilitating professional growth and community building. Zach also co-founded Kopa, a streamlined rental platform that went through Y Combinator and expanded to over 300 cities in the United States. Additionally, he has collaborated with All Access Fund, Village Global, and other notable entities, deploying capital to support early-stage companies.
Zach has made over 50 investments in various capacities, including personal checks, syndicates, and scout checks. Some of his notable investments include Supabase, Cal.com, Motion, Event, Doppler, Airwork, BuildBetter, Codex, and Dynaboard, among others.
How Zach is helping Ripple portfolio companies
As a Venture Partner, Zach will help Ripple Ventures source and evaluate developer tool opportunities, as well as support the portfolio in engineering and product strategy. Drawing on his extensive experience in early startup operations, Zach can provide valuable insights into team/company building, hiring the best engineering talent, and scaling companies.
