We are pleased to announce the first major upgrade to our new wallet app!

Notable changes since the latest 1.0.6 bugfix release are:

  • offline support
  • connection status icon
  • better mobile support (mostly iOS)
  • easier installation on mobile OSes and desktop Chrome
  • fixes for websocket updates
  • general bugfixes
  • Dutch translation (by multipasser)
  • Polish translation (by sexor (minions))

Offline support

The major new feature in this release is support for offline data. That means you can open the app without an internet connection and still be able to see your previous transactions and balances. The app also starts faster by showing the already downloaded content. Additionally there is a connection icon showing if you are connected to the server.

Easier installation

With this release we wanted to emphasize how easy is to install the wallet (known as “Add to Home Screen”), which is a Progressive Web Application, on both mobile OSes and desktop Chrome. For that purpose we’ve created a dedicated page which explains how to use a PWA just like a native app and if you’re using Chrome (either on mobile or desktop) the installation is just one click away.

One notable difference between a PWA and a native app is the download size - its about 700kb for the wallet vs 50mb for an average iOS app. This can be useful, for example, when on roaming.

Demo

Here’s a short video showing how offline and the app added to the home screen works on iOS.

Besides the mentioned features this release contains some important fixes for iOS and the websocket connection. There are also 2 new languages contributed by our community members — thank you!
