On Day 4, we talked to an expert. we realized that we weren’t innovating anything, just making it cheaper with some small add-ons. So we decided to change our final idea. We are now making an affordable mechanism that you can attach to a wheelchair, along with some other features, to make it a “happy place” for the handicapped. We also got to know a bit more about the kind of motor we need for the wheelchair and what not to do to an umbrella (this from experience).

On day 5, we cut the foam for the cushioning on the bottom and backrest and took turns to try it out. We got advice from an expert on the efficiency of the motor and how to steer mechanically, one of our main problems till then. We now have a motor, a shade (not finalized), and foam cut for cushioning.

On day 6, we tried to connect the motor to the batteries and gear regulator, but it didn’t work. It was a great lesson in circuitry, though.

Finally, we all have specific roles in the group. They are as follows: Meesha=Blogger; Kabir=Documentr; Hiya=Ideator; Vani=Illustrator; Ruhi=Designer; Jeet=Tech Guy.
